STAND UP FOR THE RIGHTS OF PEOPLE FORCED TO FLEE THEIR HOMES
Around the world, record numbers of children and families are fleeing their homes in search of safety. Almost 71 million people have fled their homes due to conflict, violence, persecution, poverty, and food insecurity. According to the UN, someone is forced to leave home every two seconds, undergoing arduous journeys in search of safety. Too often, instead of being met with compassion and civility, they are met with xenophobia and hostility, subjecting already-traumatized people to further stress.
Right now, it is critical that we demand that our leaders rise to this crucial moment and ensure that refugees and asylum seekers are protected and welcomed.
We are calling upon our leaders to:
1. Uphold the dignity of asylum seekers, refugees, and other people on the move
2. Make the asylum process fair and accessible
3. Address the poverty, violence, and corruption forcing people to flee
